Tether, the issuer of the stablecoin USDT, has announced a major lease of 20,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) to support AI development and cloud computing initiatives. The resources will be utilized for AI research, content creator tools, and the development of Tether’s upcoming QVAC platform (“Infinite Intelligence”).

This move reflects Tether’s vision for a more open digital future, emphasizing that AI should serve the public rather than corporations. The initiative is part of a strategic alliance with video platform Rumble and high-performance computing provider Northern Data, aimed at creating decentralized infrastructure that empowers users, creators, and communities.

According to Bloomberg, the Rumble–Northern Data partnership is in its final stages, with the combined entity’s value potentially reaching $2.9 billion.

    CEO Paolo Ardoino stated:

“We are proud to support Rumble in building critical infrastructure for a freer, more open internet.”

He highlighted Northern Data’s role in providing the scale, speed, and autonomy necessary for freedom-oriented platforms. Ardoino emphasized that the alliance demonstrates how systems can protect truth, privacy, and freedom by creating alternatives rather than seeking permission.

The QVAC project is envisioned as an open AI platform offering transparency and user control over intelligent systems. Tether plans to leverage Rumble and Northern Data’s GPU resources to train models and develop tools that expand the capabilities of content creators worldwide.

“By controlling your own intelligence, you remain the master of your destiny. Our AI innovations are designed for a future where technology serves people, not the other way around,” Ardoino added.

The GPU lease will only take effect following the completion of Rumble’s acquisition of Northern Data AG and will comply with German and US law, with Tether not being a party to the acquisition itself.

Earlier in October, Tether also announced the launch of a new US-focused stablecoin, USAT, to be integrated into Rumble’s crypto wallet ecosystem.
