Google has officially rolled out its Gemini AI model in the Chrome browser for all Mac and Windows users in the United States. Previously limited to subscribers of Google AI Pro and AI Ultra, Gemini is now available as a standard feature, bringing AI-powered assistance directly to everyday browsing.

Users can activate Gemini via an icon in the upper-right corner of Chrome and request support for analyzing content on any web page. The AI can, for instance, tailor market data to individual needs or summarize complex articles quickly.

Gemini also introduces multi-tab processing, allowing users to compare information and organize tasks efficiently. Whether planning a trip or choosing electronic devices, Gemini can compile structured comparisons of flights, hotels, or product models.

One notable upcoming feature is page restoration without browsing history. Users will be able to ask Gemini where they saw a particular product or article, and Chrome will navigate them directly to the original page.

Integration extends across Google services, including YouTube, Maps, and Calendar. This allows users to find specific video segments, schedule meetings, or organize tasks without leaving the current tab. Google envisions Gemini eventually performing routine actions, from placing orders to booking appointments, handling checkout, and suggesting payment options.

Another significant addition is AI Mode in the address bar, which enables users to enter detailed, conversational queries and receive structured responses. Instead of searching for a general term like “best mattress,” users can ask for specific features and continue a dynamic dialogue directly in the search bar. Initially, AI Mode will be available exclusively to U.S. users, with a broader rollout planned for later.

Chrome will also start suggesting relevant follow-up questions based on the page currently being viewed, providing fast AI summaries and insights.

Google emphasizes that Gemini’s agent capabilities will be introduced gradually over the coming months. The goal is to transform Chrome from a simple search tool into a full-fledged AI agent capable of executing real-world tasks.

Previously, Google also announced a protocol for AI-agent payments, signaling a broader strategy to integrate AI deeply into everyday online activities.
