Anthropic, the AI company behind the Claude model series, has announced plans to build data centers worth $50 billion in the United States. The facilities are slated for construction in Texas and New York, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2026.
This strategic move, undertaken in partnership with British tech provider Fluidstack, aims to create cutting-edge infrastructure tailored for machine learning workloads, accelerating AI development and enabling faster scientific discoveries.
CEO Dario Amodei stated:
“These data centers are designed to maximize computational efficiency and support AI capable of solving complex real-world challenges.”
While Anthropic already leverages cloud computing partnerships with Google and Amazon, this marks the company’s first major initiative to establish proprietary infrastructure. Analysts project that Anthropic’s revenue could reach $70 billion by 2028, with a positive cash flow of $17 billion.
Experts note that while Anthropic’s investment is significant, it is smaller than comparable commitments from industry peers. For instance, Meta plans to spend $600 billion on data centers over three years, and the Stargate project—a collaboration between SoftBank, OpenAI, and Oracle—allocates $500 billion to AI infrastructure. Such mega-projects have sparked discussions about a potential AI infrastructure bubble.
Founded in 2017, Fluidstack is providing Anthropic with cloud-agnostic solutions and Google TPU hardware, and has previously collaborated with Meta, Black Forest Labs, and French AI startup Mistral. Some of Fluidstack’s projects have been backed by $11 billion in funding from the French government.
Anthropic plans to equip its data centers with infrastructure optimized for AI workloads, including Claude models, to accelerate development and deployment of advanced technologies. The partnership with Fluidstack also focuses on innovative energy-efficient solutions, aiming to reduce operating costs and enhance the environmental sustainability of the facilities.
Previously, in September 2025, Anthropic raised $13 billion at a valuation of $183 billion, underscoring strong investor confidence in its growth trajectory.
