Google has unveiled Nano Banana Pro, a next-generation image creation model built on Gemini 3 Pro, marking a significant jump from the earlier Nano Banana release. The updated system delivers deep contextual reasoning, accurate text rendering, high-end photorealism, and studio-level design capabilities.

According to the company, Nano Banana Pro was designed to move beyond simple visual effects and toward professional-grade design workflows, including complex layouts, 3D concepts, prototypes, and educational visuals. It leverages Gemini 3 Pro’s enhanced reasoning engine and integrates real-time information from Google Search.

Google describes the model as a tool capable of “visualizing any idea — from prototypes to infographics.” Key enhancements include:

    • improved text rendering and multilingual typography
    • expanded contextual depth supported by real-world data
    • higher creative control and precision in composition

The company emphasizes that Nano Banana Pro is its most accurate model for generating images with embedded text, handling everything from short slogans to full paragraphs. It can now interpret fonts, textures, calligraphy, and localized content far more reliably.

Thanks to its connection with Gemini 3 Pro, the model can incorporate actual data from web search in real time, including weather conditions, sports scores, recipes, documentary content, and educational references. Google states that this enables the system to produce context-rich infographics and factual explanatory visuals.

Nano Banana Pro also introduces studio-level editing tools, such as lighting adjustments (day→night, bokeh effects), camera angle shifts, refocusing, color grading, and localized retouching. Users can generate images in 2K and 4K resolution.

Human-centered compositions have also been upgraded: the model can handle up to five people in a frame with preserved likeness and mix up to 14 input images when creating variations.

    Availability and access tiers:

    For general users:

    • Gemini App → “Create Image” with “Reasoning” mode
    • Free accounts receive limited usage before falling back to basic Nano Banana
    • Higher limits for Google AI Plus, Pro, and Ultra users
    • Available in Search’s AI Mode (US) for Pro and Ultra
    • Supported globally in NotebookLM for subscribers

    For developers and businesses:

    • Updated image generation in Google Ads
    • Workspace tools: Slides and Vids
    • Gemini API, Google AI Studio, Vertex AI, Google Antigravity
    • Flow integration for Google AI Ultra in video creation

Google also highlights transparency and safety:
All generated media includes SynthID, an invisible AI watermark, while a visible “Gemini sparkle” watermark remains for most users except Ultra-tier accounts and developers. The Gemini app now allows anyone to verify whether an image was created with Google AI.

In September 2025, the Nano Banana editor became one of the main drivers behind the strong U.S. growth of the Gemini app, boosting downloads by 45% to 12.6 million, helping it surpass ChatGPT on the App Store.
