Ross Kelvin, CEO of Parhelion, a prominent Bitcoin mining company, has unveiled ambitious plans to erect a colossal statue of Prometheus on Alcatraz Island. Valued at approximately $450 million, the monument is set to reach 137 meters (450 feet) in height, making it taller than the Statue of Liberty and the main span of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Kelvin revealed that the concept originated in 2018, but the project was postponed during President Biden’s term. Now, with renewed momentum, he expects that former President Trump would also support the endeavor, citing his appreciation for monumental aesthetics.

The statue will be crafted from a nickel-bronze alloy, designed to reflect sunlight differently throughout the day. Kelvin envisions the work as a symbolic representation of the fundamental dynamism of Western civilization, embodying freedom, creativity, and human achievement. The Prometheus statue will hold a blazing torch as a metaphor for liberation from collective constraints and the pursuit of personal purpose and innovation.

Before construction can begin, Alcatraz’s status must change from a national park to a national monument. Kelvin plans to submit detailed designs and a blueprint for a technology museum on the island by January 2026. The project is overseen by the nonprofit American Colossus, led by Kelvin, which emphasizes the empowerment of industrious individuals and protection against societal dehumanization.

Bloomberg reports that Trump has previously supported monument-building initiatives, including the National Garden of American Heroes, funded with $40 million to host 250 statues of national figures. He also signed an executive order promoting classical architecture in civil projects and initiated the construction of a new White House ballroom, reflecting his commitment to monumental art.
